Week Ending June 09, 2017
Compared to last week alfalfa fully steady, grass hay, ground and
delivered hay and dehy alfalfa pellets sold steady. Just a little over
half of the first cutting of alfalfa is harvested. Reports of tonnage has
varied across the state. Areas with “bug” infestation, hailed or received
a late snow, tonnage has been affected. Other area of the state report a
lot of tonnage per acre (average or above) and most of RFV values have
been better than expected. All sales are dollars per ton FOB the field or
hay barn, unless otherwise noted.
Eastern/Central Nebraska
Alfalfa: New Crop: Supreme large square bales 180.00; Premium large
square bales 155.00. Good round bales 75.00-80.00. Old Crop: Supreme
large square bales 150.00. Good large square bales 120.00-130.00. Good
round bales 65.00-70.00. Grass Hay: New Crop: Good to Premium large
square bales 95.00-100.00. Old Crop: Good large round bales 60.00-70.00
with some at 80.00. Premium small square bales of grass hay 120.00.
Haylage: 140.00 delivered on a dry basis. New Crop: Dehy Alfalfa pellets
17 percent protein 200.00-210.00.
Platte Valley area of Nebraska
Alfalfa: New crop: Good round bales 70.00. Ground and delivered alfalfa
90.00-100.00. Ground and delivered cornstalks 70.00-75.00. New Crop: Dehy
pellets 17 percent protein 185.00-210.00.
