Week Ending June 23, 2017 Compared to last week alfalfa and grass hay sold fully steady. Ground and delivered hay and dehy alfalfa pellets sold steady. Demand is sporadic. In some areas there appears to be more sellers of old or new crop hay than there are buyers and vice versa in other areas. There are some areas of the state that are getting dry or they are dry and producers are starting to go over what they might do if this weather pattern stays dry. For now, most pastures are holding up and haven’t deteriorated much. Many alfalfa producers are starting on second cutting of hay this week. With warm temps and windy days it won’t take long for the hay to be baled. All sales are dollars per ton FOB the field or hay barn, unless otherwise noted.
