Ground/Grinding alfalfa movement: Southwest/South Central

Hay market trade activity is light to moderate. Demand is moderate, and
prices have remained steady for all hay types. Spring feels as if she is on
her way with the mild temperatures and sunny skies that occurred over the St.
Patrick's Day weekend, and officially arrives on the 20th. Producers are
starting to let go of some of their inventory, as a hint of green can be seen
in the wheat fields and pastures. Although snow melt, and rain received last
week has created flooding for some in our northeast counties, our thoughts
turn to our neighbors to the north in Nebraska, who are struggling through
some of the worst flooding they have seen in years. If you have hay, feed
stuffs, fencing materials, equipment, etc. that you are willing to donate,
please contact the Nebraska Department of Agriculture at 1-800-831-0550. If
you have any extra hay to sell and/or need hay here in Kansas, use the
services of the Internet Hay Exchange: www.hayexchange.com/ks.php.
