Week Ending March 08, 2019
Compared to last week alfalfa, grass hay and alfalfa pellets sold
steady. Ground and delivered hay in the Platte Valley sold 10.00 higher,
steady in the Panhandle. Demand was good with several loads of hay
getting shipped across the state. Snow in some areas of the state
overnight Thursday with rain or snow in the forecast for the weekend. As
the winter lingers on more owners of livestock have started to look for
hay to procure. Warm temperatures and green pastures cannot come soon
enough for many livestock owners. Several contacts mentioned when the
snow melts and dries, rakes and balers will be in the corn fields. All
sales are dollars per ton FOB the field or hay barn, unless otherwise
noted.
