Compared to last week: Alfalfa hay sold steady. Demand
for squares to ship out of the state is very good.
Supplies of hay in squares is very light as most produces
have most of their squares spoken for. Demand for hay
in rounds is moderate. Many producers in low lying areas
are concerned about stream and river flooding as well
as excessive runoff from melting snow. This has led to
higher volumes of hay sales as producers are looking to
move hay before it is compromised. Trucking is also an
issue as many hay trucks are busy moving hay across the
country. Straw sales were lighter this week. Straw sold
steady to weak. All prices are dollars per ton and FOB
unless otherwise noted.
