Week Ending Apr 26, 2019
Iowa's weather for the past week was drier and warmer, allowing farmers to
move back to spring field work. However, the spring like weather did not decrease
the need for good bedding and forage as most pastures were not ready to be grazed.
Top quality bedding material was hard to find even though there were customers ready
to pay a premium price. The price on supreme alfalfa fell slightly this week
compared to last, but was more an indication of hay quality rather than quantity.
The weather forecast for the coming week indicates rain and cooler weather for the
first half of the week.
