South Dakota Weekly Hay Summary

All prices per ton, unless noted, FOB the stack.

Compared to last week: Very few reported sales this week as
a severe winter storm moved through the region. Large amounts of
wind driven snow and heavy amounts of ice made travel impossible
on Thursday as interstate highways were closed across the state. Already
wet ground conditions, which have made it very difficult to get hay
loaded and hauled out on trucks, were made worse after the storm this
week that brought 2-4 inches of moisture. Demand remains good for
all types of hay and bedding. Warmer weather for next week but still
colder than average and more rain in the forecast. All hay
and straw sold by the ton FOB, unless otherwise noted.
