Compared to last week: Alfalfa hay sold steady. Demand
for squares to ship out of the state remains good, however
supplies of squares are very light. Demand for hay in
rounds is light to moderate, however supplies remain
heavy. With winter still holding on in many parts of
the northern US hay demand remains good. Later turnout
dates in Idaho have forced ranchers to use more hay than
expected and have buyers looking for additional loads.
Grass hay supplies remain high as well. Ranchers looking
to move supplies have begun to drop prices in order to move
excess loads. Grass hay sold 5.00 to 10.00 lower. Good
moisture conditions continue this week as rain and additional
snowfall was seen across the state. Straw sold steady on
limited sales. All prices are dollars per ton and FOB unless
otherwise noted.
