Most hay classes selling steady

In Nebraska, compared to last week alfalfa hay sold fully steady. Grass hay sold steady to $5 higher. Sun-cured alfalfa pellets steady. Ground and delivered hay fully steady, according to the USDA Market News Service, March 29. Prices given on per-ton basis, unless otherwise noted.
Eastern/central—Premium alfalfa, large rounds, $130; good, large squares, $150, large rounds, $110-$115. Premium grass hay, large rounds, $100-$110, small squares, $160-$170; good, large rounds, $90-$95; fair, large rounds, $60-$75. Sun-cured alfalfa pellets, 15% protein or better, $260.
Platte Valley—Good alfalfa, large rounds, $110-$115. Low/fair grass hay, large rounds, $80. Ground and delivered alfalfa, $150-$160. Ground and delivered alfalfa-stubble mix, $135-$145. Ground and delivered grass alfalfa mix hay, $145. Ground and delivered cornstalks, $110. Sun-cured alfalfa pellets, 15% or better at $230.

In South Dakota, East River and West River areas, all classes of hay steady on this week. Very good demand due to continuing low inventory in South Dakota.

In Missouri, the supply of hay is light, demand is moderate and prices are steady.

In Texas, all hay classes sold fully steady as most hay has been contracted. Hay is only trickling out of the barns this time of year as the wait for new crop is in full swing.
