Week Ending February 02, 2018 Compared to last week, alfalfa sold fully steady to 5.00 higher. Grass hay sold steady. Ground and delivered hay in the Platte Valley sold steady, with Eastern and Western areas trading steady to 5.00 higher. Dehy pellets sold steady on a thin test. Demand was very good for hay going to the “front range” of Colorado with good demand from instate buyers on all different types of forage’s. Some operations from small to big starting to look and procure hay for late spring/early summer feeding needs as they continue to keep an “eye” on the U.S. drought monitor. Many users of forage products remember the drought a few years ago and are trying to offset sharply high hay prices and purchase hay that is reasonably price today. Dusting of snow in the “Western” parts of the state Wednesday night with colder temperatures in the nearby forecast prevailing across most of the state. All sales are dollars per ton FOB the field or hay barn, unless otherwise noted. Eastern/Central Nebraska Alfalfa: Supreme large square bales 215.00.
