Week ending February 02, 2018 Compared to last week alfalfa and grass mix hay sold fully steady. Most contacts in Eastern side of the state are out of 2017 hay or nearly out of hay as buyers in the “front range” in Colorado, cattlemen and feed yard have depleted the supply of good or less quality hay in the trade region. However, there is a good supply of high RVF value testing hay from east to west in the state. Some hay has been sold in all areas of the state but producers are having a hard time finding trucks for shipment. Most of the sales quoted “per the bale” is going to horse owners or small scale livestock owners. All prices dollars per ton FOB the field or hay barn unless otherwise noted. Prices are from the most recent reported sales. Eastern Wyoming Alfalfa: Supreme large square bales 200.00; Premium large square bales 165.00.
