Alfalfa trade moderate this week. Movement was mostly slow as winter storms brought rain, snow and ice to much of the state. Demand was generally good for all alfalfa, wheat and grass hay. Supplies of alfalfa are becoming extremely light. Prices only lightly tested this week but confirmed sales were fully steady on alfalfa. This week's precipitation is not expected to bring significant relief from the drought but will at least keep conditions from worsening. Wheat pastures across central and western Oklahoma continue to need more rain. Market News continues to maintain an online hay directory for both in-state and out-of-state hay producers. The directories are on the ODAFF homepage at www.oda.state.ok.us. Producers wishing to list hay are encouraged to call at 1-800-580-6543 or email jack.carson@ag.ok.gov.
