Hay market trade activity and demand remains very slow, while prices remain
generally steady with a slight softening to old crop grinder hay. Most all
areas in Kansas received some amount of precipitation last week and in some
cases too much rain. According to NASS, there was only 1.1 days suitable for
field work. Thus, corn and soybean planting is well behind last year with
only 46 pct of corn and 7 pct of soybeans planted. Pasture and range
conditions rated 1 percent very poor, 3 poor, 24 fair, 59 good, and 13
