South Dakota Weekly Hay Summary

All prices per ton, unless noted, FOB the stack.

   Compared to last week:  Hay prices steady with very few reported 
sales this week.  Very wet ground conditions remain an issue, making for 
very difficult transportation. Demand remains very good for all types of 
hay and bedding.  More rain cooler temperatures expected this weekend 
making yard conditions continue to be poor.  All hay and straw sold by
the ton FOB, unless otherwise noted.

East River:
   Alfalfa:  Premium: Large Squares, 200.00-210.00.  Good: Large Squares, 
180.00-190.00. Fair:  Large Squares, 150.00-160.00; Large Rounds, 140.00-
165.00.  Utility: Large Rounds, 115.00-128.00.

   Sun-cured Alfalfa pellets:  15 pct 235.00; 17 pct 245.00.  Alfalfa
Meal: 17 pct 250.00.

   Grass:  Good:  Large Rounds, 150.00.

   Alfalfa/Grass Mix: Good: Large Rounds, 150.00-175.00.

   Straw:  Large Rounds, 110.00; Large Squares 40.00 per bale. 

Corn Stalks: No Reported Sales.

  West River:
   Alfalfa:  No Reported Sales.

   Grass:  No Reported Sales.

   Alfalfa/Grass Mix:  No Reported Sales.
