Oklahoma Hay Market Report

Alfalfa trade and movement remains very light as rain and storms continue
to impede haying activities. Demand was moderate to good for first cutting
alfalfa. A large percentage of first cutting offerings are rain damaged,
over mature or both. A good amount of wheat hay may still be put up but the
window for best quality wheat hay is over. Too few sales confirmed this week
for a full market but overall steady undertone noted. Oklahoma entered this
haying season with the lowest hay stocks on hand since 2012, according to
USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service.

Market News continues to maintain an online hay directory for both in-state
and out-of-state hay producers. The directories are on the ODAFF homepage
at www.oda.state.ok.us. Producers wishing to list hay are encouraged to call
at 1-405-522-3753 or email jack.carson@ag.ok.gov.
