Missouri Weekly Hay Summary

Week ending 5/10/2019

Another week with very little accomplished in the fields around the
state. There are still a few guys chancing it and getting some hay
between rains but for the most part equipment is not seeing the use
owners would like. Corn planting is well behind the 5 years average
and although it doesn’t take long to get done it is hard to get done
if you can’t get started. Farmers are starting to look at calendar
dates now as planting time for insurance and risk protection dates
are approaching. The supply of hay is light, demand is light and
prices are steady. The Missouri Department of Agriculture has a hay
directory available for both buyers and sellers. To be listed, or to
view the directory visit http://mda.mo.gov/abd/haydirectory/ for
listings of hay http://agebb.missouri.edu/haylst/ (All prices f.o.b.
