Compared to last week: Alfalfa hay in rounds sold mostly 5.00 to
10.00 lower. Hay sales were light to moderate this week as buyers
wanting to sell excess hay loads did so at lower money. Alfalfa,
as well as, mixed alfalfa and grass both sold lower as producers
look to make room for new crop hay. Supplies of hay in rounds have
moderated some over the last few weeks as producers push to lighten
supplies. Hay in squares is very difficult to find anywhere in the
state as hay sales to other states as well as to Canada have exhausted
most of these supplies. Many ranchers have turned out in the eastern
and central parts of the state. This will put a damper on hay usage
going forward. All prices are dollars per ton and FOB unless otherwise
noted.
