Compared to last week: All classes traded steady with moderate demand.
According to the NASS Crop Progress Report September 30, 2018, high pressure
built over the region during the first half of the past week. This led to dry
and warm conditions for most interior areas of the state. Temperature highs
ranged as high as 10 to 15 degrees above normal during the early part of the
week. Heading into the weekend, a cooling trend arrived as an upper level trough
of low pressure moved into the area. This brought temperatures along the
interior areas to below seasonal averages as onshore flow increased along
coastal areas. Temperature highs ranged from the low 80s to low 90s in the
Sierras, low 70s to low 100s in the mountains, low 70s to low 100s along the
coast, low 90s to low 100s in the Central Valley, and low 90s to low 120s in the
desert. Temperature lows ranged from the mid 20s to high 40s in the Sierras, low
40s to high 40s in the mountains, high 40s to high 50s in the Central Valley,
mid 40s to low 60s along the coast, and low 40s to low 70s in the desert.
Sunflower, beans, and rice continued to be harvested in Sutter County. In the
Sacramento Valley, rice harvest began and harvest continued for safflower. In
Tulare County, cotton bloomed and bolls were set, alfalfa was cut and baled, and
