Alfalfa trade moderate. Movement was slow to moderate with heavy rains across
the state hindering hauling. Demand was fairly good for all alfalfa and good
quality grass hay. Fourth cutting is nearly completed and supplies and
offerings remain light. Prices were fully steady. Wheat planting was 60
percent completed, up nearly 20 percent from last week and 4 percent ahead of
average. Moderate to heavy rains across the state this week will result in
some wheat acres needing to be replanted. At this time it is unclear how many
acres were affected.
Market News continues to maintain an online hay directory for both in-state
and out-of-state hay producers. The directories are on the ODAFF homepage
at www.oda.state.ok.us. Producers wishing to list hay are encouraged to call
at 1-405-522-3753 or email jack.carson@ag.ok.gov.
