Week ending October 12, 2018
Compared to last week all reported forages sold fully steady. Demand
was good with a lot of hay getting shipped from the western side of the
state. Most of the hay is going to out of state buyers with some going to
local cattlemen for winter feeding needs. Demand on hay cubes has been
very good for bulk and bagged product. Good demand for sun cured pellets.
Some rain and snow in some areas of the state the last seven days. Cold
temperatures in some areas getting down to the mid to low 20’s. Some
producers finishing up on second cutting of hay as other are on third and
some have washed and put all of their hay equipment away. All prices are
dollars per ton FOB the field or hay barn unless otherwise noted.
Eastern Wyoming
Alfalfa: Premium large squares 175.00-193.00. Good large squares 150.00;
delivered at 160.00. Alfalfa/Grass: Premium large squares 185.00-200.00
and 85.00 per bale; Good large squares 140.00-150.00. Sun-cured alfalfa
pellets 15 percent protein 245.00.
Central and Western Wyoming
Alfalfa: Premium large squares 180.00, Good large squares 150.00-165.00;
Fair large squares 130.00-140.00. Premium small squares 200.00; Good
small squares 160.00-165.00. Alfalfa/Orchard Grass: Premium large squares
150.00-190.00. Premium small squares 220.00. Timothy: Premium small
squares 200.00. Certified weed seed free alfalfa cubes bulk 230.00-
240.00, bagged 280.00.
