Weekly New Mexico Hay Summary

Week ending Oct 20, 2018

   Compared to last week, Alfalfa hay prices mostly steady, cooler 
temperatures are slowing hay growth, Northcentral areas reporting
frost this week.  Eastern region between 70-100 % into fifth cutting.  
Southern and southwestern areas are between 50-70% into sixth cuttings. 
Southeastern region are between 10-30% into sixth cuttings.

Eastern region: 

Baled Alfala:  Large square bales; Premium and Supreme; 250.00 per ton
organic delivered to Clovis; Premium and Good quality; 210.00-240.00 del 
from local producers.    

Baled wheat hay;  165.00 per ton deliverd form out of state.  

Southeastern regions:

Baled Alfalfa: Large square bales: Premium and Supreme; 210.00-220.00 del;
Premium and Good quality 180.00-210.00 del to dairies.
 
Small bales; Premium and Supreme 275.00-300.00 per ton loaded on truck. 

Southern and Southwestern region:

Baled Alfalfa: Large square bales, Premium  200.00 per ton( 220.00 on
contracted)  Good quality; 175.00-180.00; delivered to dairies.

Small bales alfalfa ; Premium and Supreme quality: 275.00 per ton; 
9.00-10.00 per bale FOB.

Sudan hay; 130.00-150.00 per ton.

Corn silage; 48.00 per ton back to farmer 67% moisture.

North central Region: 

Baled alfalfa: Large square bales, premium and supreme; 200.00 per
ton.  Good quality 180.00 Del to Dairies. 

Small bales: Premium quality 8.00-9.00 per bale.
