Kansas Hay Market Report

Ground alfalfa movement: Southwest/South Central
Tonnage: 9,102/3,523 Last week: 8,125/4,006 Last year: 9,973/4,714

Hay market trade activity is slow. Prices steady, demand light to moderate.
Farmers are busy trying to finish up harvest which has proven problematic when
fighting through rain drops and snowflakes. Some are also finishing post-frost
haying, but trying to dry hay with cooler temperatures and shorter days is
difficult. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, recent precipitation has
supported additional reduction in the state's moderate and severe drought. The
abnormally dry (D0) category is at 7.5 pct., moderate drought (D1) is at 1.0
pct., and severe drought (D2) has been eliminated. If you have hay for sale,
