Alfalfa trade and movement very slow. More rains and colder weather
contributed to slow sales and light demand. Dairy buyers are largely out of
the market at this time and feedlot demand for grinding hay also turned
light. Demand for good quality grass hay remains fairly good but most current
offerings are being rejected for quality concerns. Winter wheat seeding
reached 85 percent completion, up 5 percent from the same period a year ago.
Winter wheat emergence at 62 percent is up 10 points from last year.
Market News continues to maintain an online hay directory for both in-state
and out-of-state hay producers. The directories are on the ODAFF homepage
at www.oda.state.ok.us. Producers wishing to list hay are encouraged to call
at 1-405-522-3753 or email jack.carson@ag.ok.gov.
