Week ending 10/05/2018
Farmers have been busy with fall work, grain harvest is progressing well
ahead of average pace and those not in grain areas have been busy making
fall hay. There has been slight increase in the amount of hay being
offered as fall haying has added to the overall supply and many producers
now feel they have a bit of surplus to part with. Hay prices are mostly
steady although there is still a slight touch of weakness noted as some
asking prices have backed off a few bucks from the highs seen earlier in
the summer during the peak of the drought and low supplies. Hay demand is
moderate. The Missouri Department of Agriculture has a hay directory
available for both buyers and sellers. To be listed, or for a directory
visit http://mda.mo.gov/abd/haydirectory/ for listings of hay
